Duckens Petit-Maitre was born and raised in a Christian family
in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He is the youngest of twelve out of his
siblings. After the departure of Duvalier in 1986, his father had
lost his great job. His father used to own a whole food market,
shops etc., he lost them all. His mother became a single
mother two years after she gave birth to him. His mother
wasn’t only a mother; she was also a father figure to support
all of his eleven other siblings. Between 1994, and 1998, his
mother came to the United States in search of a better life so
she could support the rest of her children that she left back
home. His siblings raised him up until early of 2000s. Around
2001, he lost one of his Sisters whom he was so close to.
About Duckens Petit-Maitre
Duckens Petit-Maitre struggled a lot when he was in Haiti, for
most of the times when it comes for him to go to school was
always a gamble in term of finding some “Tap-Tap” change
(Bus Fare) to get to school. United States was always his
dream, so that one day he can come here, to get a better
education, and work hard to pay it back to the community.
Right after the lost in his family, his mother immigrated him
to the United States in other to finish up his education here.
As he arrived in United States, his dreams started to shine;
after he graduated from High school he went to a
professional study program called Year up. At that time, Year
Up was partnering with Cambridge College, where he was
attending both institutions, and he received a certificate in
business and IT.
After he got his Certifications, he went to Bunker Hill
community College and graduated with an associate degree
in Criminal justice. Then, he went to America College of legal
studies in New Hampshire for a year and transferred to
Newbury College and where he will soon obtain a B.A in
Pre-law, which is now called Legal studies in May 6, 2018. He
has been in the community for about 17 years. He used to
live in Roslindale, Mattapan, and now in Hyde Park. He’s also
a member of 1st Haitian Baptist Church of Boston. He
participated in community service while he was in high
school, in term of collecting plastic bottles in the ravine, or
pond around the school perimeters. He was active in
NJROTC in high school, and planting Flags for the Veterans
who fought for to us in other for us to have Freedom that
we’re all enjoying now.
To finish, Duckens Petit-Maitre is a Bus operator at the MBTA,
a City of Boston Constable, and also a notary Public. He was
very active in the community. Here are some of the campaigns
that he participated as volunteer for: former President Barack
Obama, mayor Thomas Menino's, Jean-Claude Sanon, and
former district 5 city council Robert Consalvo. He was
assigned to phone banking while volunteering for Rob
Consalvo during the 2014 mayoral elections and where he
was calling voters and reminded them about the dates and
encouraged them all to go out to vote.

strong commitment to get our 1st Suffolk District safer.
